Los Angeles, CA (8/19/11): From Vancouver, WA to Providence, RI and across Europe to Moscow, Russia ECOTECHDESIGN has just been launched onto the internet map and is receiving widespread coverage and generating world-wide buzz with its recently finished Container Hybrid House in the Mojave Desert. Inspired, in concept by Le Corbusier’s seminal 1929 Villa Savoye (A Machine for Living) and the Prius hybrid automobile first built in 1997, the Container Hybrid House is a 21st C. Green Machine for Living. An innovative residence and art studio design, it incorporates a kit-of-parts design concept with universally available, pre-engineered and pre-fab components and modules simply bolted together while, at the same time integrating readily available, low-cost materials with sustainable and timeless, passive design principals. The project incorporates (6) ISO containers with a steel Butler Building, a solar shade exosketeton, green roof and solar modules, sun-tunnels, as well as various modular and plug-in utility components. Allison Arieff in the June issue of Sunset Magazine (above) terms this the birth of a worldwide Cargotecture Movement.
Stay tuned for more innovative design developments at ECOTECHDESIGN.
